The Museum had Marina Johnston - Finishing Touches - back to refresh the main sign on the SW face of Hangar 1. The Dunnville Airpark loaned us the use of their lift and painting started on May 8, finishing on May 29. There were several days where high winds allowed only a few hours of painting. Marina repainted the entire gray area and the lettering.
The museum had a Tyvek wall installed on top of the block wall that divides hangar 1 in half. The Tyvek goes all the way up to the hangar ceiling to block drafts and keep birds out of the museum.
The wind storm on Saturday December 11/2021 flipped the road sign over. The plastic sheets that hold the letters were wrecked and a gate hinge was bent. The sign was righted and moved into the hangar for repair.
The museum was gifted a piano a number of years ago. We are currently make some changes to our displays and want to pass the piano on to another good home.
There were some comments from the Executive that the north/road facing hangar lettering was looking faded. We found a local painter: Finishing Touches – Marina Johnston.
The Museum records of pilot trainees has been converted to searchable digital files to facilitate the search for student names in response to requests from family members.
After nearly 70 years, a plaque was dedicated at the Buchenwald Concentration Camp to recognize that 168 Allied aircrew were illegally imprisoned there from August 20 to November 28, 1944.
